Summer Blockbuster pitch

Global appeal: Crime, cars, and criminals all resonate with a global audience. It is all relevant in society.  Grand theft auto also satirises western culture.

£250 million budget- Newsworthy. Not many video game films would have this amount of money to spend. However, lots of money would be spent on production to show wealth and excess. CGI effects and expensive cars would appeal to style over substance type of film-making.

CHN- The audience feel bad for Nicholas Cage's character. He is a criminal, with vast amounts of wealth but he isn't happy, (stuck in a loveless marriage, forced to commit crime since he can't get out of it now.') Film's overall story arc would be Cage commiting one last act of destruction to get out of criminality all together.

  1. The social aspects of this film help conform to the characteristics of a thriller due to its pre-existing audience from the video game. The use of Classic Hollywood Narrative is something that blockbuster audiences are familiar with and because the narrative has a formulaic structure and repetitive storyline. Global appeal also ties into the social context of a Hollywood Blockbuster because the audience understands the theme of crime in society

The $250 million budget helps fit the context of a Blockbuster because the film was made to get a profit. Grand Theft Auto is already a popular and successful video game which can make a lot of dollar depending on how much is spent on the budget and additional marketing. The cinema is losing money, hence why loads of Blockbuster films are being made to draw people back into the cinema

Technological aspects of this Blockbuster are developed through CGI. The special effects help create an event movie, if the film is made into 3D and brought out in cinemas it would help the audience get the "full cinema experience".
